As an ocean art workshop provider in Malaysia, we have encountered many participants wish to join our classes but always step back due to lack of confidence in designing their ocean art piece. They worry the expectation gap of imagination with the final result. Yet, Lasprecious team had finalised an inclusive workshop tutorial for our participants, worth to mentioned the steps are same regardless of the workshop item (ocean lamp, ocean tray, ocean clock, ocean tray).
Visualization is the key
The first time of the art workshop is drafting stage, like what painter always do before apply the colour on the canvas. This step required a little bit of imagination as they need to conceptualize the shape of the shore of their ocean art piece. The shape of the shore will affect the placement of stones, sea toy and sea shell.
Our inhouse facilitator used to observe and provide suggestion when needed. If the participant set a small island near to shore, we will ask them further apart due to the consideration the distance of waves from shores to the island. Despite of designing a nice ocean art piece, our participants will also learn how on forward planning before execution process.
Timing determines result
The main material of the art workshop is resin; it is a liquid component that convertible to polymer. The liquid component refers to resin and hardener, the proportion of each depends on the type of resin applied. The chemical reaction takes place when they mixed, you may feel the hot releases from the mixture, they gradually turn into solid state.
Thus, the art workshop has to completed in the certain timeframe before it turning sticky. You might aware why visualization is the first step in our tutorial as the resin always play with time. As a ocean resin art practitioner, we ensure our participant could make their own art piece fully with sufficient time so that they could enjoy the process.
Assertive is added value
Each step of the art workshop is not reversible whenever the real making process. Participants are encouraged to think twice when making a decision like the sand colour, the shape of shore and the colour tones of the sea water. For instance, it is hardly to reshape the shore after pouring the resin on the surface because the liquid fluid to overall area.
Resin art is a specialized skill that requires time and professional knowledge to master. Lasprecious Design launched the ocean art workshop since 2023 in Malaysia and guided more than hundred personal session and corporate teambuilding. We glad to grow the creativity community via integrating this material into the art creation.
